NEWS: TETHYS4ADRION Visits Associated Partners in Tolmin and Nova Gorica, Slovenia
On January 7, 2026, Dr. Andrej Kržan (National Institute of Chemistry), Dr. Tine Bizjak, and Uroš Robič (Institute for Water of the Republic of Slovenia) held meetings with the associated partners of the TETHYS4ADRION project.
They met with Ms. Jerica Kobar and Mr. Mirko Kristan from the Posoški razvojni center in Tolmin, as well as Ms. Nives Podgornik from Soške elektrarne Nova Gorica.
During the meetings, TETHYS4ADRION partners shared the progress made so far and presented plans for the upcoming period.
The discussions focused on the contribution of associated partners in the next set of activities in the Soča Valley.
One of the upcoming activities is an event scheduled for March 2026, during which GPS trackers will be released into the Soča River to monitor the pathways of plastic litter.
In order to introduce elementary school students to TETHYS4ADRION work on the Soča River, they will have an opportunity to participate by decorating the GPS trackers with their artwork. This is also an approach to raising awareness of plastic pollution among the youngest residents of the area.
The partners also used this visit to explore and select suitable locations along the Soča River for releasing the GPS trackers.
